On different websites we speak of fashion jewellery, or costume jewellery which basically describe the same jewellery group.

But - what do they actually mean and which jewellery collections do they comprise? It is actually nothing else than all jewellery that does not belong into any of the groups of silver and gold jewellery (including gold and silver plated jewellery categories).

A misconception that is often in the minds of people is that fashion jewellery has a bad quality or that it is simply cheap accessories that don't last and don't look so great. However, this can be a completely false and misleading perception!

Fashion jewellery basically can be equally seen as costume jewellery. If you search on the popular search engines you will find the meaning that it is often used to describe junk jewellery or fake jewellery.

But actually, it is simply the group of jewellery that is not belonging to the expensive metal jewellery such as Gold and Silver. How would you call everything else? Beaded necklaces, Glass beads, Colourful earstuds of plastic material that is outstanding and stunning, that is fashionable and up-to-date? Large beads and pendants that are eyecatching and chords that have a great sophistication and creative design do not have to be low qualitative at all! In contrary you can find great fashion/costume jewellery that completes your summer outfit and has not a very high price because of its material. But junk!? No! It is neither junk nor fake or trash. It is simply the complementary group of jewellery besides Gold and Silver.
